Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra

2004-2005 Concerto Competition

Two members of the Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra will be spotlighted as soloists in this season's concerts. Chosen from the orchestra, each student demonstrated a superior level of skill in playing movements from standard concertos highlighting their talent. The CYSO concerts will be on Saturday, January 22, and Saturday, May 21, both at 7:30 p.m. in the Bridges Hall of Music.

Saturday, January 22, 2005, 7:30 p.m.

Jade Harb is a sophomore honor student at Diamond Bar High School. She has played violin for eight years and has been a member of CYSO for the past five years. Her violin teachers have included Ray Walden (her grandfather), Anne Sherill and Margery Marth. Jade will be playing Bach's Violin Concerto in A minor at the January 22 concert.

Saturday, May 21, 2005, 7:30 p.m.

Sherry Chen has played the violin for eight years; this is her second year with the CYSO. A student of Jeff Chen, she has also performed with the Chaparral Middle School orchestra which appear at Carnegie Hall. She will play Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 in A at the May 21 concert.
