The Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra provides musical education and experience for local student musicians.
Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra
(Claremont Symphony Orchestra)Under the direction of Dr. James Fahringer and Ray Walden, CYSO is currently a 65-piece non-profit orchestra with a mission to serve the community by providing student-produced orchestral concerts that exhibit the great work of student musicians and promote art as a resource for education, entertainment and lasting friendships. As a supplement to the music programs in local schools, CYSO provides an essential creative outlet where students can grow as a community while contributing to the cultural development of the world around them.
The Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra serves students of more than 50 schools within a 75-mile radius of Claremont. In addition to playing in the orchestra, many of the students contribute to their school's ensembles. The orchestra emphasizes the importance of music as part of a life-long learning adventure. Among its ambitions, CYSO hopes its students will develop a love of serving their community through music and continue to do so beyond their school years.

Youth Symphony Offers Music Education
The Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra was started in 1983 by the Claremont Symphony Orchestra. Directors and members of CSO felt that students should have a supplemental program to the music programs in local schools where children could foster their love of music in a fun and dynamic learning environment. The board also saw a need to expose the community, especially the youth community, to the vastness of orchestral music. With the passage of Proposition 13 in 1978, music programs in public schools became scarce, and the need for the Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra became more apparent than ever.
The Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra performs two free community concerts each season and engages in other enriching activities such as the annual Concerto Competition-Recital. For information about membership in the orchestra, or additional details about the Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra, please call (909) 593-5620 or email cysomusic@hotmail.com.
