Esther Kim, violin, has studied
music in Vienna and Indiana
University. Since her first solo
performance, which was with the
Claremont Symphony in 2001, she
has won numerous competitions
and has appeared with a number of
local orchestras as well as the
Seoul Sinfonietta in Korea and at
the Kioi Hall in Japan. This will
be her fourth performance with the
Claremont Symphony.

Dr. Cecilia Cloughly joined the CSO
in 1974 and has served as Board
President and Board Member, as well
as Principal Horn since 1981. A music
graduate from Oberlin, she had a
Fulbright Fellowship in Munich, where
she was the first woman to play the
horn professionally in Germany. Her
teachers include William Slocum,
Myron Bloom, Hans Noeth, Robert Elworthy, Jim
Atkinson, and Jeff von der Schmidt. She is the translator
of the bilingual book, A Pictorial History of the Horn
(1975). She teaches German at Citrus College.

Suzanna Capparelli, a graduate of the
USC School of Music, has been a
member of the cello section of the
Claremont Symphony for the last 12
years. She has previously appeared as a
soprano soloist with the orchestra, and
has sung solos in the Messiah
performance on numerous occasions.
She has performed as a soloist with the
Ronfeldt Chorale. She is an active member of the Pomona
Valley Musicians Club.

Carl Matthes, a Los Angeles native,
received his Bachelors from Cal-Arts
where he studied with Earl Voorhies.
He received his Masters degree from
USC where he was a piano student of
Lillian Steuber. He has performed
across Europe, and spent 15 years
touring the United States for
Community Concerts. His orchestral
appearances include performances with the San Francisco
Symphony and the Fresno Philharmonic. He was a featured
performer with the NORAD band at Hollywood Bowl.
