Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra
(Claremont Symphony Orchestra)The Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra, sponsored by the Claremont Symphony Orchestra Association, is starting its 27th season this year. The CYSO offers many young musicians in the community opportunities to improve their orchestral skills. It also teaches them the value of growing together as a musical ensemble. The CYSO performs two free concerts each season under the direction of Suzanne Edwards, James Fahringer and Ray Walden. CYSO Announces Winners of Concerto Competition
Two members of the Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra will be featured as soloists in this season's concerts. Chosen from the orchestra, each student demonstrated a superior level of skill in playing movements from standard concertos highlighting their talent. The CYSO concerts will be on Saturday, January 23, and Saturday, May 22, both at 7:30 p.m. in Bridges Hall of Music.

Adelbert Wang, age 14, is in the 9th grade at Claremont High School. He began his violin lessons with Mrs. Jill Yu at the age of 5-1/2. He currently studies with Fung Ho. He has passed the 9th level for violin on Certificate of Merit and also won various violin competitions. He has been a member of the CYSO for six years. His hobbies include computer games, golf and basketball. He is a member of the CHS 2009 freshman basketball team. ![]()
Taylor Harb is a senior at Diamond Bar High School. She has been performing in singing and dancing groups and orchestras, playing the cello since she was very young. She was in Chaparral Middle School orchestra, where she sat first chair cello and had her conducting debut in Carnegie Hall. She studies with Anne Sherrill and is in her ninth year with CYSO where she sits first chair. She is currently in the advanced symphony orchestra at DBHS, will continue studying cello, and hopes to pursue a career in music.
