About CSO

The Claremont Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1953 by George Denes. It was initially sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Claremont and the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Claremont as an extension of the Claremont schools music program through the Claremont Adult School.

Denes was succeeded by Dr. James Fahringer, who served as Music Director for 32 years. Today it is a nonprofit led by Music Director Dr. Robert Sage, with local musicians bringing music to the community free of charge. About 70 volunteer musicians from across Southern California provide free, musically enriching concerts for Claremont, the Pomona Valley, the San Gabriel Valley, and the Inland Empire.

The Claremont Symphony Orchestra is a 501(c )(3) nonprofit organization and a member of the Claremont Chamber of Commerce and Claremont Heritage.
